Maybe because somalis become easily jealous, ets be real we aren't used to living a life of luxury since we are naturally geeljire type of people so if we were suddenly displaying our wealth there would be so much envy and evil eye, and in islam is haram to waste money on extravagant things.

Funny story, I was discussing income and how much to bring on a vacay in Somalia, and this dude at the mosque was like 2 kun wee ka badantahay. Im like lacag wiligeyga ila godka galo ma iga badnaaneyso so yeah if you make over a certain number somalis be like «wee kaa badantahay»

Why are Somalis not as materialistic as other Muslims? Our parents don’t care for luxury cars, huge western style houses or even luxury brands. I can’t be the only one who noticed this. You see rich Somalis living in their average house and driving 2010 camry.

I thought it was Islam but when I think about it. Arabs and Pakistanis here are very materialistic. What makes Somalis different?

That is one of the most beautiful things i love about my somali people. Imaan. Walaahi i mean it. I too do not treasure material things. I will be happy to sleep on the floor
