Why are somali elites so worthless

So this is something I've been thinking about as the title of the post says why is it that somali elites are so worthless. Yes you see somali buisnesman doing well outside somali. But inside somalia it's as if the somali elites bow to whatever foreign power is their at that moment. Compare them to the ethiopian elite class. Which while trying to kill themselves over who's in charge are still able to maintain a grip over their country and basically have the somali regions elites in their hands like puppets. If anybody could offer a different perpsective or explanation I'm down to hear it. Since ultimately the fate of a country rests on how competent its elites are.

Ethiopia is much stable and organized than Somalia, and it is a centralist state despite being a federal. Somalia few years ago was controlling small portion of of the Capital, some gave us the nickname 4km state, while Ethiopia entered into civil war recently, didn't collapse and controls most of its lands.

Somali nomads don't value the state. That's the essense of it. Ethiopian peasants value the state and back powerful elites to represent them and get a slice of the pie for them. States don't exist in nature, only in the minds of the population. If it doesn't exist there, it doesn't exist at all.

The day Somalis belive in the state more than the clan and put the nation above their extremely petty clan interest is the day everything will be solved.

Somali nomads don't value the state. That's the essense of it. Ethiopian peasants value the state and back powerful elites to represent them and get a slice of the pie for them. States don't exist in nature, only in the minds of the population. If it doesn't exist there, it doesn't exist at all.

The day Somalis belive in the state more than the clan and put the nation above their extremely petty clan interest is the day everything will be solved.

Its a bit more complicated than that. Somalis had plenty of states in the past, especially ones that were multi clan like Ajuran and Adal. We also had a functioning unitary state for 30 years until it collapsed thanks to bad decisions by leaders

Somalia needs centralism and merit based ruling with minimal bureaucracy for at least 100 years, this can be set up by an intial iron fist ruler.

and the Somali elites do not represent the most Lion type Somali man. Makes one question are they elite because of their quality or qabil nomination?
