Why are Somali aroos always so chaotic???

Firstly, they run too late and it’s annoying. It’s a wedding not a nightclub. 3am ending time is diabolical.

Also why are the invitation times always wrong?? It says 6:30pm and you go at 9pm but bride doesn’t even show up until 10:30 pm. Come on now.

The weddings I’ve been to lately also always have technical issues caused by poor planning. The one I went to today used a youtube playlist for the music and during one of the brides entrances an ad started playing in the middle of the song right before she got out she had to go back in and start over

I know it’s hard to create assigned seatings because Somalis love to bring 3 extra people but cadaan people kinda have a point with that. There is nothing worse than leaving to go to the bathroom/dance floor/just simply get closer to see everything that is happening and then a random habaryar steals the seat when you come back. That’s my seat dammit

For me it depends on me wife, if she wants a big expensive wedding with alot of people I'm okay with that. But if she doesn't care ( which is unlikey) we could do it in her living room and 10pound cake.

Pretty much, my brother did something similar, he did it in our parents back garden, his wife even then, was simple like him (he is a sheikh), so it worked out well.

I feel the sentiment though, its a big day for our sisters too, so its best to consider their side as well.

Truthfully a lot of women don’t care about having a big wedding. Some do dream of having a princess wedding but for a lot of women having the wedding comes from pressure from family who don’t want to seem “cheap” or “low effort”

I know if it was up to me I would just have a nikkah and get on with my life but being the eldest child I know my hooyo will have a heart attack if I choose not to have a wedding. So I probs will have one
