To fit in more I think. I personally don’t understand, you can have any kind of name and be Muslim, it doesn’t have to be an Islamic one. It must be hard changing your name especially as an adult lol.

Islamically one does not need to change their name unless it's an overtly gaal name. That is because naming a child is the right of a father in Islam.

It is more of a culture to change your name. I remember Hamza Yusuf saying something of this sort in a lecture.
