One of my dads relatives came to America in the 1950s other family members also came to America in the 70s anybody else have family that came to the west super early like way before the civil war

No my eedo was the first from my family to go to the west she only left during the mid 80s when things were starting to heat up in Somalia. None of my family really forsaw the magnitude of what was brewing until it was knocking on our doorsteps.

My Awowes father and his brother went to the europe for university and settled in the UK after Italy. My great grandad returned after he had a dream to come back and created a big buisness but sadly his brother died in the UK and since he didn’t return so we have no connection to that side now. That side fully assimilated into being cadaan since it was 4-5 generations

I had quite a few uncles who studied overseas in the 80s on my father's side. I've also matched with a few half-English Somalis born in the 1950s & 70's in the UK, who shared 2-3rd grandfather/mother.

everybody on here claims their parents went overseas before the war, yet they live in low income areas with large somali populations. imagine having a headstart and still being a povo lmaoooo so much for being reer magaal.

i just think it’s such a huge coincidence that almost everybody’s family was in europe or north america way before the war, and somehow still ended up in areas with a large somali refugee population i don’t need to make up fairytales about my life on an anon forum. in fact, i don’t think i’ve even shared anything personal on this website.
