Who Ruled Somalia From the 3rd-12th centuries

This sector of history is extremely foggy, no records of kingdoms, chiefdoms and very foggy clan oral histories, hell the city states which are said to have been the only known fiefdoms have no recorded history or even recorded rulers, other than Aw Barkhadle. What kindoms were ruled? This time period was also when most Somali clans were born which is anything that's odd, before this who existed? How did 10 people born in 900 CE take over?
Who ruled before Adal and Ifat?

Wikipedia isn't even accurate and he's right we have close to no knowledge of what happened between 3rd century-12th century
Its just a quick primer so if you want more information you could just check the sources

Its not completely true to say we have next to no knowledge. Sure there is almost nothing between 200s and 800s but starting around the 10th century we start to get a basic idea on what polities existed during that time, the trade, religion, population and relations.

No they have no information from the time period

I've read this before already and it's details are really small
Well its wiki so its pretty condensed.

tbf, we really need more archeological work done on somalia as well as find any untranslated manuscripts that could be hidden in yemen, india ect that details stuff about medieval somalia. As it stands, very little work has been done

There is little to no history. All we know is that there have been multiple population bottlenecks for over a thousand years. The vast, vast majority of Somalis to have ever existed likely died due to famine or disease without giving birth to anyone.

Archaeological digs will tell you. Until then we know nothing of our ancient past.

Excavations are very easy, why can't 100 niggas get spades and just dig an area or something, you don't even have to dig that far

Axum ruled parts of the north for a bit. Don’t know anything about southern history in that time though

Nothing more than city states most likely. It’s hard to rule over geeljire who are constantly moving around

Didn't rule, more like required it to give it bribes, it couldn't muster a force to fully take it.

Somalis weren't always geeljire, they were all urbanized with their own major kingdoms and were actually agriculturalists, only when the Oromo incurssion took place did they migrate eastwards and begin living of camels
