Same reason oromos are treated badly in Somalia, they’re taking our jobs/ ethnic rivalry.

Somalis and Sudanese are both Africans but there happens to be a lot more of them than us. Also remember those two countries boarder each other.

Same reason why Mexican immigrants to America are disliked and talked about more by the right wing than Columbians for example. There are more of them here.

North Africans in general don’t see Somalis different from any other Black person and that entire region is literally a hell-hole for all Black people (natives or not)
…but when it comes to Egypt, the crazy level of hatred they have specifically for East Africans and Sudanese is wild. They get physical and violent over there, don’t even get me started on if your a Black female (I remember hearing about a Somali women being tortured over there ). I’ve seen Egyptian Nubians, a group that is treated as 2nd class citizens in their OWN country, get targeted and hate crimed because Egyptians thought they were Sudanese or Ethiopian!? Even threatening to “deport” them to Sudan. Egyptians will openly admit this to your face, and some are very proud to be a bunch of racist pos.
East African or not, the stories I’ve heard about being Black in Egypt are terrifying.

This is why I don’t understand why some Somalis are always in the frontlines for North Africans when it comes to chronically online discourses like Hoteps and the indigeneity of North Africans, stuff that doesn’t concern or affect us. It’s even cringier seeing Somalis try to force a relationship with North Africans, a completely foreign group of people.

I have heard a lot of Egyptians openly mock Somalis for how they dress & for Somalia being a failed state. If you talk to a lot of Somalis that have lived in North African or Arab countries they will tell how how Arabs really treat anyone with dark skin poorly in general. Somalis have these delusions of grandeur based on some of our ethnic features which are considered to be beautiful.

All in all however, I find Somalis to be one of the more mocked groups and part of the reason is because we tend to think of ourselves so highly while coming from a currently failed state that has become the world’s charity case.

I've been to Egypt, didn't really have a problem when I was there. No one disrespected me. Didn't see that many black people except for a couple in the museum and the pyramids. They didn't seem bothered either. I wouldn't call Egypt a bad place from my experience there.

I’m very proud of Somalis for having high self esteem as well as seeing the good in everybody. Unlike some fonts on here I’m happy that Somalis think they will have good experience in other countries, it’s not good walking around with a chip in the shoulder

It’s more about class then race. Egyptians treat Libyans like shit cause our countries are poorer. It’s Sudanese that are the punching bags in the Arab world. How long have you stayed in Egypt? Northern Sudanese aren't treated badly like that, generally are just seen as an extension of Upper Egyptians. As for Libyans they aren't poor at all nor are they hated. Syrians are hated to an extent along with Palestinians but are generally treated fine.

And you can't lump all Arab countries together like that. In UAE, Qatar, and Oman Sudanese people have a good reputation as highly educated and respectable people. Saudi Arabia is a mixed bag. As for Lebanon they hate all Africans including Egyptians. Kuwaitis and Jordanians look down on Egyptians, and Kuwaitis in particular treat them like garbage.
