White Pearl of the Indian Ocean: Mogadishu

Look how clean Hamarweyn looked in 1974 with the uniform white washed buildings. All it needed was some cobblestones on the road and pots of flower plants outside the shops and houses.

May Allah deal with aideed and Abdullahi yusuf .

My Hoyoo talked about xamar as if it was heaven and now look what they left for us .A shadow of its glory
We live in a world where the natural order of things is decay. All beautiful things come to an end. If you don’t preserve something it will rot and become ruins.

We can rebuild it at anytime but the resources or money is not the issue but the human mind.

@Internet Nomad don’t you recognise Hargeisa in some of the pictures you posted?
Yeah I know this one was taken of hargaisa

The most pretty and significant recent addition to hargaisa when i went there a couple years back was they revamped the war memorial.

Hargeisa looks pretty sweet, it just needs two or three iconic buildings similar to the Corinthia Hotel and the PDOC buildings in Khartoum;

Didn't the Italians blew up Mogadishu's walls?
They did which sucks but atleast they did pretty good city planning and design whilst incorporating the existing style of the native architecture

Really think it’s wild that not a single Somali government has taken it upon themselves to restore this intersection to its former glory, same with the waterfront and the Old quarters.

Man all those innocent lives, they must have had grand plans for the late 1980s and 1990s; graduations, weddings, buying a house, starting a business, first day of school for their kids etc.
