I have noticed a lot of propaganda and misinformation being spread online about the Arab slave trade by white people. Racist Caucasians are influencing and radicalizing the black community to hate Arabs because of the Arab enslavement of black people. A few black people are now hesitant and reluctant to support Palestine based on misinformation and propaganda they received about the Arab slave trade.

We need to constructively dismantle the intellectually dishonest statements propagated by Europeans regarding the Arab slave trade. Some of the most ridiculous and outrageous claims I have read is that Arabs were the first ones to initiate the enslavement of black people. Another ridiculous claim I came across is that Arabs taught Europeans how to enslave black people and the Arabs treated people of African origin far worse than the Europeans.

It's simply foolishness and ignorance, especially when red slaves (Persians/romans) made up 90% of the slaves throughout the first three caliphates. The so-called Arabs they speak of had kinky hair and were shades of black, and it was not livestock slavery of imperialism; nothing in human history rivalled the trans-atlantic slave trade; not even the Romans or Greeks considered it.

The transatlantic slave trade was not slavery; slavery had existed for centuries and Europeans had been slaves for almost 800 years; in fact, the name slave derives from the word Slavic, which refers to Europeans who were enslaved by the African black moors. There were guidelines for slaves under the Roman Empire, and descendants of slaves were not enslaved, bred, and held like animals.

Apparently the Arab slave trade had higher casualty figures; and a great deal of it was based on sexual slavery rather than industry.

Black people should have sympathy for the Palestinians, however, we (non Muslim blacks) most definitely should keep Arabs at arms length.

As you rightfully stated, the original Arabs were of dark skinned complexion. The original Arab's skin texture varied from brown to jet black. The original Arabs looked down upon white people. When white was used in regards to skin color, it was not necessarily positive. It was often used to describe the loss of pigmentation caused by vitiligo.

Slavery in Arabia was not based on skin color or race. The primary way one became a slave was by being captured as a prisoner of war or on a raid. In Islamic civilization, slaves were rarely slaves for life, and most were eventually freed. There was never a consistent class of slaves in society since so many were freed.

Slavery in colonial America was worse, but only in that it was permanent. On the other hand, as early as the 1400s, in the Ottoman Empire, people captured in war were sometimes settled to work on lands owned by the sultan. Although technically slaves, their condition was closer to serfdom. These slaves formed families that lasted generations and passed down the land they worked to their children.

There’s no need to compare them, they were both horrible.

Arab took millions of blacks and castrated the males so they can’t produce with black women. And Arab slave trade lasted way longer than European and plus a lot of European were protesting and demanding the slavery to end. The cadaan forced the Arabs by force to stop the slavery πŸ˜‚ carab didn’t want to end it just look at Libya

The Arab slave trade went on for a lot longer than the European slave trade (since Arabs were in contact with Africans for longer), so the Arabs of course enslaved more people. However, it is important to note that the Europeans enslaved people at a far higher rate than the Arabs. The Arabs enslaved 12 million Africans over the span of 12 centuries and the Europeans enslaved 9 million Africans over the span of just 4 centuries. Also, the conditions that slaves went through in the Arab world vs. the New World were much different. Most slaves sent to the New World were employed in the sugar cane plantations or the mines of the Andes. There, they faced horrific conditions and were often worked to death within a span of 4-8 years. Since there was an absence of a plantation economy in the Arab world for most of its history (with a notable exception of 8th century Iraq), slaves in the Arab world were typically employed in household environments, where they faced relatively easier conditions.

As @Nilotic said, there was a significant sexual aspect to the Arab slave trade. However, there was also a significant sexual aspect to the European slave trade as well. Nearly a fourth of the African American genome is of European origin as a result of extensive sexual contact between African slave women and European slave owners. The difference between the two is that the Arabs set up rules around sexual slavery, while the Europeans sexual slavery wasn't formalized. For example, if a slave woman gave birth to a child from her master, she and her child would be guaranteed freedom under the Arab system, and her child would be seen as completely legitimate. However, under the European system, any a master had from his slave women were seen as illegitimate and the master had no obligation to recognize them. Usually, these children and their mothers remained enslaved and the children would even be sold off by their own fathers.

At the end of the day though, both slave trades were very horrific, and could definitely be described as very un-Christian & un-Islamic.

The Arab slave trade was by far worse, most male slaves where castrated, that's why you barely see any African y haplogroups in western Asia.

The Europeans turned slavery into an industry. One so impactful that America fought a civil war over it and it has subsequently impacted the trajectory of human history since.

Most of the early slaves in Arabia were Caucasian groups. The castrated slaves were also mainly from the Saqaliba aka Slavic groups.

The enslaving of African groups was much later after the Arabs had already extensively mixed with these Caucasian groups, like the Mamluks, Saqaliba, Persians, Circassians, Georgians and so on.
