Sad state of affairs. Soccer fields are the way forward. Recreation to avoid boredom. Burco is believable, it’s really underdeveloped compared to hargeisa.

depends, if you are fishnchips anything but the big cities would be dreadful.

the problem of Burco is that its stuck between being a city and a village. there is the potential to be a city but many of its dwellers and Hawd people who have been migrated to the city wearning trousers instead of macawiis but still macawiislay at heart.

In terms of dhaqan.

With careful observation imo the top 5 worst cities are as follows:

1. Djbouti
2. Mogadishu
3. Hargeisa
4. Garowe
5. Bosaso

Which one’s more worrying?🤔 taking your children to a Somali city with good Somali dhaqan that’s under foreign occupation or taking them to a Somali city with alien qowmuluud dhaqan that’s not under foreign occupation.
There’s no such thing as somali dhaqan we are different ethnic groups with our own cultures

Burco is underfunded and underdeveloped like most Somali cities, but what makes it worse is that it's dry and desert like.

Most 'Somali cities' are not in the best shape to be fair, we've had our greatest increase in urbanization during the last 30 years with 'barely-functioning' regional/municipal governments so that partially explains the state of the urban centres.
We all have different ideas on what is 'fun' so I can't speak to his experience but this is my rating:
  1. Jijiga: Run of the mill somali city, I liked it because it cooled down at night which makes it very pleasant, best city when it comes to weather. Safe and very cheap-loses points for being in Ethiopia. Ahead of other Somali cities for obvious reasons.
  2. Mogadishu: Tied with Hargeisa, still has some of the old trees and architecture that once made the city so beautiful. Loses points for the political/security situation … but is easily the best Somali city once they get a little more tlc in the public sphere and one round of quraan saar (or 20) on the city.
  3. Hargeisa; safe, people were more open, straight-forward, it is basically a long stretch of houses with a quaint city centre. I find major cities not by large bodies of water strange so it can only make it so far up the list in the future.
  4. Berbera: Clean, quiet with a semi-intact old town but I think I started to hallucinate from the heat.
  5. Kismayo: The roads were in horrid shape (when I went), like Xamar, the fear of alshabaab was palpable in hotels and restaurants. Lacked the feel of a city, more like a stretch of tuulos. Otherwise, beautiful city hidden underneath the neglect.
Haven't been to Puntland, but from what I've seen on the internet and heard from people, Garowe is one of the better cities in Somalia.
