What would have happened if Siad Barre had won Ogaden War?

He would never win, the odds were against him. The Soviets or the West wouldn't allow the occupation of Ethiopia

Jalle siyaad was trolling the peace talks :mjlol: sooner or later the world powers would have come down him like the Soviet Union did back then.

The better what If scenario was the one @Prince of Lasanod posted awhile back telling us there was a proposed Ogaden referendum in the works agreed by the tplf in return for Somalia's support.
 
Barre was very close to win the war and change the map of the Horn of Africa.

Few people know that Somali troops and WSLF stayed in Ogaden until 1981. Barre didnt give up until 1982 when Ethiopians and SSDF occupied two somali towns.

After 1982 Ethiopians had the upper hand in the war.

He shouldn't have cut ties with the Soviets even after they switched sides. We were self-sufficient in agriculture until the IMF and World Bank fucked us over in the 80s and made us a banana republic.
