What would be an accurate estimate for the population of the Somali ethnic group

30-35 million
For now, 35-40 million for all ethnic Somalis across somaliweyn and the diaspora but we will grow to over 100+ million in the next 50 years. Reminder that ethnic Somalis will be 50% of Kenyas population alone, and Somalis in the Ogaden have the highest fertility rates in all of Ethiopia. We will be a force to be reckoned with if we get our shit together. Long term we are the biggest threat to Kenya and Ethiopia that's why they've been trying so hard to fragmentate our people. I believe we will win in the end though.

i think we have like 30 mil across diaspora and all ethnic somali lands. Inshallah we are blessed with many children. This is the only time i approve of polygamy so that a man can have 40 children x 30 million and inshallah we will have 1 billion plus.

I don't think there's any Somali that self hates being Somali. It's just not all Somalis identify as Somalians. People equate ethnicity and nationality.
To answer you question, there's roughly around 30- 40 million Somalis world wide. It includes the diaspora as well.

15 million worldwide. Any other figure larger than that is a lie made up by UN and NGO staff who want more western money for Nairobi villas.
We won’t be 50% of Kenyans population, thats just wishful. Instead, somalis will be around 10 million give or take and Kenyas overall population will likely be in the range of 80-90. Our fertility will decrease as somalis get richer and more women get educated. Its unlikely somalis will sustain the large fertility. For now somali fertility is 6+ children per woman, I think this will cut down in half during the next 25 years.
