All highly similar & related groups have been fighting each other for thousands of years like for instance Europeans, but when a bunch of brown/non-white folks invaded & violently imposed themselves on the locals then it hit very differently because now their local European identity was at risk of being replaced by a completely Alien culture and people. Hence why the Non-White invasions of Europe are viewed as far worse than intra-European conflicts.
