What Made You Pick Islam As Your Religion?

For me, I felt lost and was searching for something that had a meaning. I found out about my heritage as an African-American and I discovered that I descended from the Igbos. Also, I read up on Judaism and Kabbalah it connected with my views on spirituality AKA a belief system.

Yeah. Somalis started to be Muslims since the time of the prophet during the time of the Hijira when some Companians of the prophet went to Zeila and built the Qibla-Tayn mosque (not the one in Arabia), which means it was during the first few years of the Messenger’s prophethood. It’s practically like a Ethno-Religion for us.
