If the sitting government can focus on building Masjid's and ensure every citizen in Somalia is guaranteed access to clean water and food, Al Shabab will die down, investments will rise, infrastructure will take over, Somalia will prosper. Why?

Look at Saddam Hussein and his history, the man single-handedly brought Iraqi Shias & Sunnis together by building Masjids and basic needs to survive, driving down the need to join rebel forces.

Right now, all I see are politicians who are out for money. If a real politician in Somalia is running for office, make sure to back someone with money because they won't be focused on making money - but on real power.

Today, Somalia can't be called a country: it's a frictionless state and needs a unified structure. You can't trust the Turks, Americans, and definitely not the Chinese. If Somalia focused on strengthening ties with Ethiopia, it can truly be the gateway into Africa from Asia with big growth potential.

But, that's just my two cents. I'll let the country write its own death wish.

Yeah. Kenya is focused on becoming Tanzania's bread and butter - thus access to all that sweet water and ports. Somalia has four operational ports, if it focused on developing a corridor to the 110M+ people in Ethiopia who are being used as modern-day slaves, it can be a "cheap" but effective way of getting goods out and into the sea and vice versa.

By creating incentives such as introducing free trade (through the region, not the current trashy ACFTA), lower taxes on imported goods to help develop Somalia, allow foreign companies to set up shop here (creating more jobs for the current population), and then selling off as much (if) Oil as possible before everyone goes green.

Then Somalia can potentially be on the road to developing itself as a country, forget about SL. Once Somalia can fix itself up, SL will gladly be apart of the states. Oh and one more thing, regional leaders aren't Presidents - they are Governors. Smh.

You can visit areas that haven’t progressed for at least 15 years as I did a few years ago. Many places haven’t changed materisll for at least 20 years or more. They look like medieval slums.

The country of Somalia as it was, beautiful but torn apart.

It was never dangerous, just rough.
It jaded some really not so good moments when politics went haywire.

As it sits to stand down the road, it will become an prosperous economic beautiful paradise to visit all over.
(As it has invested into reinventing it's image which should be continued under the right leadership more stabler.)

They should stop pouring resources into a black hole like Mogadishu and instead invest in areas with better potential

We came so far and we still have a long way to go but there’s no doubt what we are capable of. No turning back, the train of progress is stopping for no one choo choo :)

Why kid yourself @Reverse Somaliland will never reunite with Somalia ever again. The whole of the Horn of Africa has more chance of being one single country

The two most important neighbours of SL is Djibouti and Ethiopia
