A while back when HSM first signed the deal with Masar to establish Egyptian bases in the country I predicted along with many Mx used on here there first target would be the Ethiopian outposts in Gedo.

Egypt is gaining a cash cow thru AMISOM and wants it's a $1500 a month check for soljahs. Egypt gains second pressure points on Ethiopia(on land) as a way to assault it or threaten Ethiopia they have access into the country over the Nile dam. Thirdly it helps irir ambition of slowly bringing Gedo and other areas of the south under Hamar.
