What are your thoughts on China Africa partnership?

There is no denying that China is a superpower. However, should Africa let China have this much access into their local economies to the point that they are building everything?

I don't have a problem with them forming partnerships with China, it's just that they should not go overboard with letting them build everything.

Look at Zambia, all the signs are in Mandarin and they can't even enter into certain places because they're reserved for Han Chinese. It's mostly a way for corrupt politicians to get under the table money from China in exchange for the squandering of public funds.

Depends on the country tbh. If your country can do fine without china then you shouldn’t partner with them.

but then you have countries like Somalia that NEED assistance or it’ll fall.

It's not like Africans have the capability to exploit some of those mineral resources themselves so why not get critical infrastructure in return? It's a win-win situation in my eyes. The problem is the leaders who make terrible deals. China paid 1 million to fish in Somali waters.

at what cost my friend, nothing is free. We are the people who cant have a proper government, we haven't even achieved our full maximum potential. There many Somalis who want to invest that are waiting things to get better. Lets have a safety first then a stable government from then we can have more stronger financial infrastructure. Raise some capital from diasporas to launch ventures that more capital intensive. Definitely we need to fix our high cost electricity. if we do these basic things our nation could be more better off. China or any country is there to take advantage of us while we are weak.

Every country is looking for its interests , China is looking for a partner in investment. Africa resembles pre 80s China, thus china is looking to entrench itself within the continent and partially reap the rewards. Luckily this means more jobs for locals who , for all their complaining, get paid well on these projects.

The world is no longer closed, we are in the international game and thus Africa should look forward to it.

Almost nothing, China brings their own employees so no jobs for locals. In conclusion africans should invest in themselves and get competent leaders.
