We should stop sending money back home to families

I know this sounds absurd, but it worked for South Korea.

This is a country that was ravaged by war, but today it's a country with 11th largest economy, one of the biggest exporters in the world, with high GNI, HDI and GDP is South Korea. You really ought to read the fantastic economic and social transformation South Korea went through the 1960s to 1990s.

Amongst the many tactics they utilised was to dispatch workers to countries like West Germany, Saudi Arabia to work and send their earnings to the government rather than their families.

Another tactic they utilised was requesting the public to send all of their gold possessions into the government to be melted down and sold. Did this generate billions in revenue? Absolutely not, but it was a sign that the Korean people, the Korean volunteers abroad from home had a vision to restore their country and follow in the footpaths of Japan.

Those on the receiving end in Somalia are living like kings with just a few hundred bucks.

If the Shilling was replaced by the Dollar in Somalia; they'd actually live the way they describe it over the phone.
