I think we should dedicate our least biologically and wildlife diverse areas to livestock. Like the semi arid desert areas.

It's possible to intelligently manage both, walaal. It doesn't have to be a choice. Create some national parks and lots of permaculture type food forests with some marginal land managed with techniques like rotational grazing while shifting Geeljires to a more rancher lifestyle.
