Somalis think we were lost which is really true when it came to the deen we wasn't very religious. But to say the civil war was a blessing is highly retarded. What's blessed about seeing somali people have no freedom about what they can dress up in?

For somali females in somalia they can't even wear an Abaya and hijab but would rather dress in a bin bag the jilbaab. Both cover your awrah but one of them makes you look ugly which is a difference!

We have lost many parts of our culture what is this blessing??

Their argument is that we were borderline gaalo but thats far from the truth, siad barre introduced secularism and tried to silence some islamic ideas but that wasnt supported so how exactly were we gaalo?

I asked my family how religous were we exactly and why wasnt there islamic extremism back in the day and they said they all believed in Islam, prayed, we had many mosques and the women were covered but some werent because we were more tolerant at the time. Somalis since Islam reached us have always been religous so their argument is null and void.

I think Somalis would have gone back to how they practised religon pre siad barre but instead petro million dollar extremism ideologies were imported from Saudi Arabia during the civil wars height and you know how easy it is to change peoples views while they are at their worst and desperate. Couple months ago I read that Somali republic only experienced very few attacks like 1-4 during its creation to 1991, now compare it to our current Somalia with multiple bombings everyday.
