Wait.. what happened to the port deal former Pres. Farmajo and Pm Abiy had?

I was discussing recent events with a Somali brother, from the Garre clan. We were discussing the port/SL controversy and we pretty much realized that, this may alienate the non-Isaaq clans in SL, and may end up with SL being reduced to just the lands the Isaaq inhabit (berbera, burao, hargeisa??), which could be bad.
He also reminded me, in 2018, Obbo Farmajo and PM Abiy reached an agreement on the ports, but we haven't heard much about it since then?? Does anyone know?

I've actually been seeing some progress being made by fano freedom fighter against the central government of ethiopia and if this keeps up they might be able to help liberate their fellow amhara kin in addis ababa, a historically amhara city built and developed by them. Perhaps they can connect the city to their lands and even make it the new capital of the amhara region. The amhara in addis would definitely like to have fanos protection specially since they're surrounded by the oromia region.

Good for them. Now what happened to the deal with farmajo and the ports? was it cancelled because of lack of $$, support, etc, or do you just not know?

Good question but i'm really more concerned about the fano/amahara plight. Historically speaking amhara and somali use to border each other. Perhaps somalis and fanos can help each other to re-establish borders and old trade rout between them.

Lol that's hilarious. No sir, I am not. Just a concerned Oromo-Ethiopian, who will always see my hostile nomadic cousins to the east, as my neighbors and kin, first and foremost because of Islam. I interact with Somalis in real life, and get confused by everyone for being one of them; so I know they are not as angry and hostile as many on this forum are.

That's good brother, you can do as you wish, in fact, go fly to amhara region tomorrow and lead them in battle; I am sure they could use your expertise.
I am more concerned about the ports, on a mutually beneficial basis-as in, no navy, no soldiers stationed there, no people migrating, just goods importing and exporting through there; the powerful ogaden clan can be the middle man and makes lots of $$$.
$$$ talks, instead of us being poor and fighting, we should be working together.

Well, for starters it wouldn't have been feasible due to the politically dysfunctional landscape at the time. Talk is cheap.

That's true. But UAE has $$ and can invest there, we need to invest in modern irrigation based farming, if we do, we can feed the entire Horn and even export. Manufacturing, new roads, no more hunger, etc, are the possibilities.

Thanks brother, I appreciate the honesty. That is true. I hope Somalia stabilizes soon, that'd be great for us (I speak for myself as a Muslim Oromo-Ethiopian; I am not sure what others want in Somalia, but we want to see it prosperous and then we can trade, sell, buy, etc).

Why so angry pal? Did i struck a nerve or something? I know from experience chatting with oromos online that they get easily irritable.

Somali in ethiopia have been ignored and excluded from politics and now the central government of ethiopia are attempting to do the same thing to amharas. The ethiopian government are playing favourites while pitting different ethnic groups against each other. It only makes sense for somalis and amhara to ally against the up and coming tyrannical ruling power.

Not mad at all sir, it's just that, you seem so passionate about the fano group, so you should go lead them and help them out. What's wrong with that? I'm sure they'd welcome you, since you guys are allies, no?
There are somalis in the fed govt, with powerful positions, I for one want to see more of them in the govt; I do not agree with what much of the govt does actually.

You want us to stabilise so more of your kin come to our lands :umad:

Business can be done from a distance.

That's true, but Somalis shouldn't be so emotional, and see that it's not the average Oromo doing that. Building navies, sending troops, etc, are not decisions an average Oromo would subbort. But, export and import, like it or not, we were using somali ports 100s of years ago, there are traditional routes there.

This post kinda reminds me a racist old white person trying to hide their racism Hard to explain, You always keep referencing a 'somali' friend. Your entire demeanor is off, surface level it looks like you have good friendly intentions but in reality thats not whats happening. Always saying something about Somalia, I dont understand Ethiopia has super green land and resources.
