Yesterday afternoon and the days prior to the incident , the sprawl between the Taxi drivers and the Somalis residing in Korsten , PE Eastern Cape.
All began started when a Somali Uber driver parked in front of the South African taxi driver as he was gearing for reverse, the Somali accidentally broke the South African's rear view mirror.
The South African driver got furious and demanded instant compensation , both got into a verbal argument , the local said
that his taxi was visible as people were in it , he had his lights on ,
The Somali gentleman was told he was
in the wrong for breaking his rear view mirror , blocking the space and parking infront of him it didn't sit well with the Somali , as he tried to drive away , evading insurance and compensation the local got a hammer and damaged the
Somali's rear view mirror repeatedly
both men got into a hectic fistfight , the local taxi driver was overpowered , he had
bruises and injuries were bad.
As a result of that ,
The local taxi driver , got his associates and his fellow acquaintances armed to retaliate in search of him but instead found groups of Somali bystanders and attacked them , Gunshots were fired and shops and taxis were set alight, causing pandemonium on Durban Road in Korsten.
Pedestrians, shoppers and motorists fled in all directions to get to safety when the violence erupted.
We don't know who pulled the trigger first , speculations is pointed at the Somali direction, allegedly pulled out his gun and shot the taxi driver , that wasn't quite the truth , since both got into a fistfight.
This is a common tactic to spread rumours and mobilise a mob to ransack foreign owned businessses.
They burned two Somali taxis and the Somalis burnt twelve taxis to oblivion
hence this escalated to murder , lootings and arsonry against foreign nationals specifically the Somalis.
A shopkeeper in East London was gunned down , another Somali spaza owner in Uitenhage was killed in his sleep and this not in PE!!
There was a drive by shooting of a 21 year old Somali male in Queenstown.
A Somali shop owner in Thembisa , Gauteng was murdered yesterday and in Gauteng there are leaflets urging foreign nationals to pack their bags.
So one action of an individual caused mayhem to the rest of Somalis.
Words get fast and there are possibilities this could further engulf in Gauteng and Western Cape.
The situation is not okay , this is bariga dhexe , bariga dhexe means clusterfuck all shit is about to go down , thanks to one reckless man.
Taxi drivers in this country are no joke , they are gangsters with driver's license , they are the last people you would want to mess with, let alone have altercations , they are a nuisance to not only Somalis but to South Africans themselves , they abuse the roads , park wherever they want , they feel entitled but one action of a Somali is stirring the pot.

There were series of retaliations within the city's suburbs and on the outskirts , three shops owned by foreign nationals were targeted in Kwazakhele and Zwide late last night.
None of them were Somalis but Ethiopian nationals.
The regional police spokesperson had also acknowledged the occurrance and confirmed on the news.
There are fears here in the Western Cape , especially the areas where Somalis operate their stores frequent, in these predominant Xhosa townships , we are dreading and looking closely , precautions are taken.
A mistake a Somali does can impact our lives like a domino effect. One irresponsible man it takes.
