Xmuslims come from questionable households

I feel like alot of these xmuslim somalis have serious family trauma and not just regular physical/verbal abuse but their parents display really odd behaviours & make strange demands or rules.

I’ve lived with somalis my entire life. My neighbourhood is somali, most classmates were somali, friends are somali. Yet half of these people discussing ”cultural issues” are stuff I’ve never heard of.

I’ve heard them say ridiculous stuff, and they get really defensive and hostile when you point out that some of the stuff that went down in their household is out of the ordinary.

”Somali parents don’t allow their kids to do sports” most somali kids I grew up with played football/basketball (boys & girls btw), or ”somali women are not allowed to travel” 😳 once again ALL somali girls I know travel with friends wth, even back home they send their daughters to study abroad for school if they have the means??

Oh ive seen the opposite. Somali guys usually do sports like soccer but rarely do i see somali girls being allowed to do sports. Same with traveling. Ive just now started seeing a trend of girls traveling by themselves but when i was a teen most adult single somali women werent doing tht. Same with a girl living alone wasnt accepted. Now i see it more than back then.

Edit: omg the part where she says u couldnt go out after maghreb prayer. Thts wht my parents said cuz the jinns are outside 😂😂 omg i didnt know another person went through tht. If i wanted to go out after maghreb i had to wait a couple minutes.

Most people back then never lived by themselves because it was never desired to begin with (unless for school/work). Women were independent though, conducted businesses and travelled alone to buy goods etc. and alot of our female relatives migrated to the west by themselves.

Am I being speculative If I say this might be more common amongst reer UK? I feel like that island is more ”radicalized”.

For the maghrib bit, as a kid/young teen I was told the same. After puberty they didn't care as much, just an"intee aadaysaa"
