The FCO actually updated Somaliland travel advice to inform Brits against all (incl essential) travel to somaliland way back in 2013 due to a specific threat against westerners yet after 4 years nothing has materialised:

Foreign Office Travel Advice already advises against all travel to Somalia, including Somaliland, and advises all British nationals to leave. We are now aware of a specific threat to Westerners in Somaliland, and urge any British nationals who remain there against our advice to leave immediately.
