I never understood this imense Isaaq and mj so called conflict the two clans have never ever really fought and have been on the same side of history ssdf snm were allied . Buur madow and isaaq elders made peace between cismaan maxamuud and cumar maxamuud. Cabdilahi yusuf vs cadde muse. Somaliland and punt land could actually be allies to form great cooperation what ever it could be either to join each other into one nation or separate yet closely interlinked . I think the mj have great respect for Isaaq at least elders used to have that . And sure they see Somaliland as a success story waxa fiican wala iskaga dayda. And I am sure the landers think if they were as shrewd and political smart as the mj it wouldn’t take Somaliland to get recognition nearly four decades and counting . They would have tricked those in Mogadishu to sign off the divorce papers in the first two years . Mjs had a president and several premiers in Mogadishu. Post 1991.

The conflict is over Sool & Sanaag which they both claim. SL really wasted their chance. They had the second somali capital after Mogadishu. In 1991 when the government collapsed they had the opportunity to call all Somalis to Hargeisa and rule them but they didn't. Now they're stuck in limbo.

Yeah that would be great to but I believe they believe that going go it alone is worth more then anything in the world they just want a country for them selves imagine if oil is found in Somaliland they don’t need to share that with any one is so I get that . For us unionists it would have been better if they stick with Somalia . But we can thank siad barre for destroying what ever good wil there was remember they were so enthusiastic about the union in 1960 it just took 3 decades to completely change . Having said that there is no dispute between pl and sl any more so they can cooperate now since there is woqoyi bari there now

Tbh this is short term there can never really be total peace between PL & SL longterm as they both claim Sool & Sanaag.

But there is nothing to claim any more there is a new player so what is there to claim I don’t think puntland values Sanaag and sool that much they never liffed a finger since Somaliland took over laascanood in 2007 . And Somaliland doesn’t really care for laascanood and taleex . They stick to their part of sool which is western sool. I don’t see puntland and Somaliland having conflict over such trival issue such as sool and sanaag
