Two young canadian girls have been sentensed to 40 lashes in hargaisa

One somali girl and one none somali girl have been arrested at their home for alledgly consuming alcohol but no evidence has been found in their homes. they have been in jail for 2 months now and still havent been released. the lashes have been postponed until after the appeal. They orginally came for humanitarian reason. Just to add that a lot of police, military, politians and rich somalilanders drink alcohol and it is widespread and they never get arrested. i wonder why they arrested these girls.

Well said. The law becomes unjust when everyone's not held to a fair standard; sadly this kinda thing is rampant everywhere.

I’m guessing it is because the Somali girl is with a non Somali, who they have automatically asummed will be up to immoral practices in an Islamic state, or they could have simply been tipped off by someone else in the public.

Another possibility could be that these girls were found to be doing something illegal, hence why they are in jail. Let’s look at it from both ends of the coin.

Either way, this is not the way to go about the situation. There is a lot of catch and thrown in jail practices that happen amongst our community.There should be real court hearings and procedures done before any action is taken. Until then, they are innocent until proven guilty.

Well this case they probably went to their country feeling safe and comfortable, well what do you know reer mirqaanland decided to ruin their trip and whip them. I was in somaliland and i saw a drunk guy in the bus, no1 seemed to care but when diaspora do it it’s national news with punishment.
