How many homes or people can this dam supply?

I'm nowhere near an expert in all this but it says it should be able to produce 6,000 megawatts of electricity. That's a lot but I don't think it's remotely the kind of power that's going to supply the whole country and be of much use for exportation if that's the case. Most developed countries the size of Ethiopia are using upwards of 100,000 gigawatts per year from what I gather.

Update:

I looked deeper and the annual output will be 16,153 gigawatts. That's also a heck of a lot but again not much compared to what most developed countries seem to use year round.

That's true, it seems unrealistic to export or maybe the intent is to export it as a soft power to neighboring countries instead of using it at home.

I must point out though that I looked deeper and edited my post. The actual annual output will be 16K gigawatts which is a lot but you're still correct. Doesn't seem like a whole lot in the big scheme of things and I do wonder what their intentions are if they intend to export.

I'm not an expert on that but the national plan is to reach 100% electricity access by 2025. The 600KM electric power line that connects GERD dam to the national grid is already completed. Of course not all households will be able to be connected to the national grid. Solar, wind etc. energy are also part of the plan.

If Djibouti wants, it can be annexed to Ethiopia

Nah, even if they wanted to (they don't) they're basically the resting nest of foreign powers in the Horn. Damn near everybody has a base there. The fat man Geele really sold his soul for a cozy palace.

Never.

Without Djibouti, Ethiopia would have a hard time connecting to other countries outside of the Horn.

Gueleh did the right thing.
Djibouti has no other than its geopolitical position.
