Turkish Elections 2018 -- Erdogan Wins

The turkish elections are currently underway. Turkey is in a fragile condition, its still in a state of emergency followng the failed coup attempt of 2016. The turks are heavily divided politically and Erdogan is getting more opposition. Just 2 days ago hundreds of thousands of secularists were present at a political rally of Erdogans main competition, Mr. Ince. The Kurdish vote is also pivotal making the outcome less predictable. Erdogan still maintains several supporters and I believe he will win but many are at unease with his authoritarian tendencies. Erdogan is confident he will win and said about Ince
"It's one thing to be a physics teacher, it's another thing to run a country, being president needs experience."
The outcome of this election is not only important for Turkey but a change in leadership will impact the politics of the entire region and relations between Somalia and Turkey.

I hope their 'Left' wins. The religious right of Turkey (Erdogan and his puppet parties) are bad for Turkey, the Middle East, and to a lesser extent Somalia.

What is interesting is that Turkey's rightwing is more based on religious vs secular values rather than the migrant vs antimigrant divide you see in the West.

I'm fairly certain that the election will be rigged either way. No way sultan Erdogan will give up his power based on the whims of his people.

The other main guy will not get the majority vote because hasn't put forward a strong opposition plan to change the current economic state Turkey is in. While for the last 16 years (excluding these last 2 years obvs) under Erdogan they've has a steady 6-7.5 % growth rate which is quite impressive tbh.

If Erdogan wins he will implement a presidential system like most western countries which will centralize his power even more.

Also, his recent struggles against the US, even though they are a vital NATO member will be interesting to observe in the next few years. If it all goes wrong in Turkey it will mean big trouble to Europe.

don’t they know that he is one chance away from assassination or a coup. He got too many enemies. The moment he falls the new government will return the kamal attaturk policy of NO ISLAM. They in return will see the discarding of Somalia. They’ll deport 60k Somalis in Turkey. They live over there as if it’s their country. A rude awakening awaits.
