Turkey is rebuilding Somalia's Air Force & Navy

This went completely under the radar but a few days ago Turkey delivered 3 T129 Atak combat helicopters to the Somali Air Force and 2 other unnamed Utility helicopters for the Navy

So the rumors that Somalia was gonna receive them were actually true, also I am pretty sure a year or two ago HSM sent a bunch of Somalis to Turkey to get trained to fly these new aircrafts they will be receiving.

As for the two other utility helicopters for the Navy its probably the Turkish T-70, basically a more modern copy of the American Blackhawk

Turkish Air Force receives 1st TAI/Sikorsky T-70 Black Hawk Helicopter

The Somali Coast guard are also equipped with Turkish patrol boats donated in 2021

And finally earlier this year in March they delivered Akinci drones, as they did in 2022 with the TB2 drones.

I don't think I forgot anything except the numerous armored vehicles they donated to the Somali armed Forces.

Is Somalia becoming the new testing ground of the Turkish military industry ? I think they are seeking a similar result as Azebaijan in Armenia, that would boost their image significantly and possibly push other countries to buy their weapons, including Somalia in the future possibly.

I hope Turkey seeks the bigger picture instead of contributing to the looting, we have a pretty ancient relationship.

This is why I say it wouldn't benefit them to f*ck us over for the Oil deal in the long term.

In a way, it’s a mutually beneficial strategy. Turkey is supplying Somalia with weapons now as a kind of demo, banking on the idea that a more stable and prosperous Somalia in the future will become a long-term customer. It’s like how game companies release free demos, knowing that players who enjoy the sample will eventually buy the full game.

There also the fact that a strong Somalia would be an excellent ally in the Indian Ocean.

The way I see it, it’s like giving a homeless man some food and a job—so he becomes not just self-sufficient, but also a loyal customer at my shop.

I don’t believe these were ever delivered. The Ethiopians and other countries asked for them and never received them. Most of this stuff is just narrative management. The so called Somali army including the top general ran from the battlefield recently. If they had any drones it wouldn’t have happened.

I know you're a troll but they were in fact delivered, as confirmed by many news outlets.

Here is the first video that surfaced of the attack helicopters flying over Mogadishu

They’re being flown by the Turkish military which has a presence there, not the SNA, I do believe the SNA took some students to turkey a few years back to train as pilots but there’s no update on that.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Can anyone find me the clip where HSM said Somalia doesn't need a strong army

:deadrose:

There not trolls they are legitimately smart dudes. But they're qabilists and so when it comes to somali politics anything and everything related to the fgs or Somalia broadly that could signal progress has to either be a lie or an extreme exaggeration
