The large and positive impact will be felt in the coming years, inshaAllah. The best thing about this is that we will get Somalis returning with doctorates who can teach in our universities. Right now, most schools are missing some basic subjects due to what I assume is a lack of qualified instructors.
Even if most of these students don't come back, it only takes a few to make a difference.
Inshallah, Somalia will retake its place as the centre of knowledge in East Africa once again.
thats a lie. in puntland majority of young men and women go to university. east africa university and univercity of bosaso are recognized all over africa and is ranked high. their curriculum is harder than universities in canada. i graduated from canada. reer puntland are highly educated. ma sha allah. the curriculum is regulated by the education ministerSending people from Somalia to university is a waste of time. Majority are illiterate and ignorant of even basic social and scientific facts.
Somalis need mass public education camps that teach everything from basic literacy to basic history and science. Basic social norms would not hurt either (dont spit in public, stand in line, use deodorant, how to wear a tie)...
These kids all graduated from dusty madrassa high schools where a mullah with stinky breath taught them nothing but to chant quran and a few uncontexulaized hadiths. How can they possibly be ready for university ?
