It's a general trend in the world. Populism is on the rise because the middle class is being crushed everywhere. Farmaajo was a populist and so was Duterte, Trump, Wilders (didn't win), Macron etc.. Different ideologies but people have had enough.

Ordinary people have had enough and they'll take a populist on the right (Trump) or left (Macron) over any establishment candidate (Hillary etc.). Hungary and those eastern European countries always had right wing leadership. It's a product of being Europe's anus.
