Top 5 Muslim empires of Africa

induction

Nothing is true; everything is permitted
yearn for the day where we'd be asking ourselves "top 5 empires of somalia", "top 5 inventions of somalia" ,etc. hate it when people tell me the accomplishments of "islam" as if am supposed to be proud of it. :(

Reason why songhai is so big is because they were facing with weak people but when they faced with 4000 moroccans while they were over 20,000 were easily defeated and their empire destroyed. If you read about the battle there tactics weren't even good enough, so please tell me how can this empire be that great in sub saharan africa and I also dont know why Ethiopia did not make the list
Also how do you gonna mention Abyssinia who ruled only in their protected highlands for most of their history and never had any strong competition before Ahmed Gurey who nearly annihilated them and were always propped up by foreign forces liek Menelik with european guns or by the portugese in the 16th century without whom they woudl not have survived but argue the Songhai "never had any real worthy enemies".

I think i once read an arabic source from the 10th century that mentioned the ghanaian empire. It's mad how west african empires were well known in the islamic world for more than a 1000 year. They must have had a huge influence on trade for a long time in west africa that also reached all the way to the islamic world. They were also featured in european maps too.

Why do you think the people they were facing were weak? The people they fought were very powerful, The Songhai literally defeated the Mali empire for example. You should read more on them, I am gonna send you some books. Also ethiopia no, because this is about muslim empires read the title of the thread.
Mali empire ain't all that too, mansa musa when going to hajj was told to bow to the sultan of eygpt in which he fucking did ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜ญ

I was reading a geographic book writing if i'm not mistaken in the 10th century. Ibn khaldun was born in the 14th century but i think your correct as in ibn khaldun also wrote about west african kingdoms and empires.

I was initially looking for a book writing in yemen that might have hade somali vocabulary in it. There is a yemeni manuscript that has a list of vocabularies of amharic and their arabic counterpart. This manuscript was providing a lexicon of the amharic language. I heard that their could also be a small lexicon of somali so i searched but sadly i still haven't found anything. The only somali word that i could find in an arabic book was guduudane which means lynx.

Bro you are not being serious anymore I am pretty sure, the mali empire doesn't matter because some ruler ( and an umimportant leader in the history of the empire liek Mansa Musa) once supposedly bowed down before the egyptians ( you did not even show evidence and even if it did hppen, this was pretty normal at that time as a sign of respect done by muslim rulers like the abasids even though its haram)

Honestly if I go on people will say am hating but am seriously not but anyways just imagine someone had the money mansa musa had, they would have built many great things and achieved alot of things but no the biggest thing he built was a masjid that look like a sand castle man
:dead:

Like come on man look at this

The thing with the money is somewhat over exagerrated, he had much gold but he obviously couldn't just buy everything with it so I do agree with you, Mansa Musa in particular is also overrated, funnily enough he wan't even a particular important leader of the mali empire.

But what is wrong with the mosque, don't you know mud architecture and mud buildings were a great choice for the region ( the materials ensure it remains cool during the day but absorbs so much heat it radiates the heat in the night and warms the structure) and the area also just doesn't have the materials to built like europe or the kind of beautiful buildings we have in coastoal Somalia in deserty Timbuktu and Djeneรฉ, people work with the materials they have, you can't control your natural surroundings.
