Our grandparents went through colonization and lived in it, our parents lived under a supressive dictator who imprisoned anyone he wished, then they went through civil war and fled to foreign lands.

they formed communities, opened up shops, schools, mosques etc.

Its true when they say ”dad waa dadki hore” meaning there are no people like those of old.

I give the diaspora 2 or 3 generations tops before they lose their identity completly.

We will join different factions in fresterska numbers such as LGBTQ,fake black power activist, lifelong feminist activist, anaa carab, secular and whitewashed, Christian and pray to 3=1 gods, bootleg rappers, wannabe models etc.

its a damn shame but if you don’t teach your kids their language, culture and deen its what you get.

And thats why people with no sense of identity will follow anything. And in the end will confuse themselves into nothing. There is a reason that adopted people seek after their parents and culture, cause they know that they don’t belong.

Those that have left our community try hard to recruit other Somalis in to their fold cause they can’t stand being alone.
