We were hiring a new colleague today. My and the department head had several interviews. One of the candidate was a Xalimo. Really nice girl, visibly nervous. Her CV had many mistakes. The biggest one was there was many 'holes' in her CV, as in gaps in her employment. Up to 11 months between job a and b. As she left, I followed her and told her 'naayaa we will not hire you, you did a terrible job in your interview'. I gave her cards to contact other companies I know are hiring too.

I told her fill those gaps in with companies that went bankrupt, there is no way to contact them for reference purposes.

The odds are stacked against you, you better play it smart :gaasdrink:

I had to help organise a grad fair once, saw a few Somalis, they thought since i was Somali too i could pull something out the bag, some of them had major spelling mistakes on their CVs.

I told them i can only put in a good word, i don't make decisions. One girl bombarded my LinkedIn with messages and after refusing to listen i blocked her. :gucciwhat:

Is this her first big job? Are you saying you need lots of work experience to work for big companies?

No, she graduated from uni 7 years ago. She was applying for a junior position. Big companies want experienced people, there's no time for tutoring. It is better to start at a small company and become allrounder.

That is qarxis material sxb. I already shared too much. I work in policy/research field.
