Does anyone know of any real attempts or thoughts from Somali gov officials in past decade about moving the capital way from Mogadishu?
I wonder if that move alone could significantly quell the insurgency (or at least the worst aspects of it), since most of the attacks are against gov civilian officials.
A capital city should not be your most populous and economically important city, such a city should be a place where its quiet and secure and not too densely populated. An inland city like Garowe would be ideal...some place not occupied by a single clan or two....or even some barren town nobody's have heard of will do...
Doesn't need to be anything fancy..just a Villa Somalia and 2 hotels would do...
