Thoughts on this take? Are secular Somalis increasing within the western hemisphere?

If anything Somalis are attaching Islam to their identity more nowadays.
Hijab wearing has increased, mosque attendance increased and the amount of Somali scholars is higher.
Prior to the war, Somalis never complained about interest loans, alcohol, prostitution or gambling taking place in Somalia. Now try introduce any of these things back home.
For the Somalis in the diaspora, many of our parents have gotten more religious than they were in the 1990s
As for our generation, for every secular Somali I meet, I meet 10 Somalis that see the deen as part of their ethnic identity.

I think this is true Somalis are probably one of the most religious majority Muslim ethnic groups in the West, if not the most.

She can stay there for all I care. Adopting western values when your in the west not when your back home. Either way we have much more on our hands. Somalia won't change its faith for 3 people who wish it to become a western colony.
Jordan is a Western colony, yet they don't force secularism down the natives' throats. Somalia should remain neutral with every country; we need to trade with both the West and the East. We should engage with the Chinese, the Westerners, and the Hindus. This is the only way we can maximize our GDP and economy in near future

When you spend your formative twenty years growing up in the West, where all of your friends and teachers are of a liberalised secular state of mind in conjunction with living in a digital age where you are exposed to a wide array of alternative belief systems and ideas that clash with Islam, it's only natural that it rubs off on you, at least to some extent.
It's only a matter of how long it will take for the Somali diaspora based in Western countries to have a statistically significant percentage of non-practicing or outright irreligious people.
It's countered by the fact that Somalis have become more religious in contrast to decades prior and we've got more stubborn personalities compared to other predominantly Muslim diasporas like the Lebanese who readily assimilate in the West.

Al-Shabaab won't go away because of premarital sex, drinking, or smoking. It will only be eliminated through a strong military that has fighter jets and other advanced equipment.

They will not have any impact for the Somali race, they hardly have any Somali friends, they will mostly marry out if they can’t find a liberal Somali, going to Somalia is a no no for them, and to be honest they can hardly can talk in somali, I know these people I have murtad somali friends, they have problematic family problems
Secular goverment and secular education and propaganda posters will do the job i believe.

Military won’t do anything the majority of somalis back home sympathize with al shabab and agree with their ideology whether they want to admit it or not.
the only thing they don’t like about them is the suicide bombings.

I don't know why niggas are shocked about secular somalis popping up when we got a lot of young somalis being raised in progressive environments. Even if their parents are conservative they still live in progressive cities and go to school with progressive teachers.
In america for example we got a lot of somalis living in democratic states like Minnesota, Washington, and California.
Somalis have actually tried to combat the issue of progressive propaganda by establishing Somali charter schools. @Yaraye has spoken about her experiencing attending one of these schools.
I honestly think more will pop up within the next 10 years since religious people love them.
