Thoughts on Pan-Africanism?

True, there is racism and discrimination within the Muslim world.
It is unfortunate. I think that we should focus on Somalia and it's people. We can have strong ties with muslims close to us. Other black african countries should also have strong ties with somalia. Pan Africanists are a minority and they do not really exist outside of the internet

My friend no one is saying that. If you read my comments, I said that people in the west that are black can have a unity because of common experience. Outside of that, it means little. That whole caucsoid skull is racist and has been debunked. It is more about the culture and the history rather than looks. People can't even tell the difference between maghrebis and gulf arabs. It's simply ignorance. Somalis are black, who isn't saying that?
My bad sxb, I didn’t read your comments and i just assumed you were one of those “i no black” because of the suggesting title :meleshame:

There is a clear difference in cultural practices and historical relevance between Horners and other madow africans which might warrant a need to be distant and not associate but people are ignorant and as soon as they see your black skin, you’re automatically black. My post was generally referring to the Somalis online who fight the “black” label like its a disease but honestly i think it’s not that deep. It’s best for us to hide under the black umbrella

@Doctorabdi I agree that the continent is very diverse but we also share common stuggle being grouped as the same due to europeans creating their own 'myth' around race, even tho it was never known concept prior for social identity(language, tribe, nations, kingdoms) was the old order and each person from everywhere was measured on their 'social identity' and 'status' such as merchant, educators, slave, peasants, farmers, religious, urbanites, nomads, royal, diplomats' .

We don't see each other as the same in the continent and it's actually quite foreign as foreign can get. Kinda like the 'asian' concept or 'east asian' even do not see each other as the same but 'grouped' together following 'phenotype n color' mechanism of the western standard. Yes ppl knew color obviously but it wasn't used as 'social system'.

West Africans have a rich culture and history. Mansa musa was the goat. He went to egypt and crushed the whole economy because he was so rich and humble he was also muslim. There was a black west african man who became a japanese samurai. Racist caadans have tried to make it seem that they have no culture and history and pan africanists never bother trying to reconnect with their roots which is unfortunate. It is so beautiful
Which West Africans are you refering with a rich culture lmao the sahelian islamic kingdoms or the pagan gaal west africsn coastal folk.

Why do so many Somalis think like this? Why do you guys want to be distant from black africans so much but as soon as someone brings up caucasoid skull or arab lineage you guys don’t mind being lumped in with other people. Black africans are not the plague. Literally the entire world sees us no different to a black from cameroon or tanzania.

Judging by the vast majority of new members im seeing posting the same racial theory bs, it seems most young somalis genuinely believe they aren’t black and should be seen as separate. 😂 i used to be like this but i changed to avoid the heartbreak of my inevitable madownimo
No, that's a bit untrue. The part where you said the whole world doesn't see you as any different from Tanzanians or Cameroonians. Be honest with yourself; do you genuinely believe that in this day and age, your average white guy living in America is stupid enough to not be able to tell the difference between the average Somali/Ethiopian and the average (let's say Nigerian)? Come on, you're kidding yourself here if you believe that's the case.

The truth is, us Horn Africans have it easier than the average AA worldwide, much less the average "Sub-Saharan" African. These AAs who take that label were forced, do you really think that if they wanted to, they would choose the label of their ethnic group/tribe? They don't have any other choice, we should be glad that we know our lineage and culture. And that we're able to choose which correctly identifying label to use. So why would I lie to the world and myself and act like all of these horrific stories about slavery, ethnic cleansing, and genocide are on any level relatable to me?

Does not work. Ajnabis that are muslim do not even treat other muslims well. Look at how arabs treat pakistanis. Although somalis are muslim they are still black muslims and treated very badly in the arab world. That is a fact, they are treated way worse than in the west
Okay first of all, it is embedded in the deen to have unity with other Muslims regardless of race. Even if there's racism, that's not everyone and you can't possibly reach the conclusion that Muslim unity will never happen just by generalizing everyone. Also, Yemen took in half a million Somali refugees, and they are welcome and treated well (generally) by the people of Yemen. Does that mean racism never happens there? No, but the majority of the Ummah isn't racist, and the "Arab world" you're referring too in which Somalis are regularly treated badly is the Gulf. About 80% of things that people criticize Arabs as a whole for are problems that are exclusive to the Gulf, and when it does happen in non-gulf Arab countries it happens rarely and with wayyy less intensity.

Racism is absolutely a huge problem in the Ummah, but that doesn't mean we shun away the inevitable fate of the Ummah of RasulAllah SAW in which we unite.

I’m sure in Lebanon where Nigerians and Ethiopians are are abused, called slurs and viewed as servants or Libya where gangs and militias traffick Africans including Somalis are exempt of this issue. Ironically, the Gulf is less racist than the aforementioned countries but yeah, 80% of the issues are with the Gulf lol. The Arabs will tell you themselves how racist their people are, let’s not sugarcoat it.

Don’t downplaying the issue under the guise of “muh ummah”. A united ummah is a pipe dream for the time being. A Muslim Egyptian would pick his fellow Coptic countryman over you any day. Best you focus on your own people.
