Thoughts on age gap marriages or relationships?

Would you personally advise your family member or friend against it?

Do you think the 7 year rule is applicable for all cases?

I feel it depends, for example an 18 yr old with a 30 something year old just sounds like they’ve been groomed or being manipulated.

But someone who’s 30, in a relationship with someone’s who’s 40-50? The age gap is weird but the 30 year old has enough experience at that point to realise what they’re getting themselves into.

Personally I feel that there are layers to it.

Thoughts on 27 and 40? Would you find that bizarre even though it fits within the whole 7 year rule. I wonder why you think someone who is 33 and 50 would be bizarre since they're both adults with a decent amount of living experience, I feel like people are just put off by any age gap that goes beyond 10 years.

Not really sure, at that age they should be mature & experienced enough to know what they’re getting themselves into. So although the age gap is strange, the 27 year old is an adult, although still young. Not sure would be my answer. But I’d definitely question the motives of the 40 year old.

And it also reminds me how rampant these sorts of relationships are in the West and no one bats an eye. But if it was an immigrant couple then people would complain that the younger one is being abused or exploited.
