A lot of people would argue against it due to the difference in life experience (among other things), but I think that's rather invalid seeing as everyone has different experiences. Saying an 18 year old shouldn't date a 34 year old due to life experience is like saying someone from the country shouldn't date someone from the city 'cause they've had 'very different lives'.
Anyway, at 18 you're legally an adult. People's approval or disapproval doesn't matter.
I've always been of the opinion that anything of a relationship or sexual nature is okay as long as it's between consenting adults. I don't give a shit if it's kinky S&M bedroom play or just a difference in age, if it's legal it's legal.
Do you think this opinion should also apply to even more dramatic differences (i.e. 18 and 80)? Or am I just wrong from the start?
All couple-related stuff depends on the couple I think. Not two couples will be the same. These days it's becoming common again for people to be in relationships/ date people older. In some cultures like our it's the norm... the young girls get married off in their early teens to some 40+ guy because he'll provide for her. And he needs someone young to pop out his kids.
As for cougars - it's becoming quite the fetish among some guys, landing a 'cougar' and identifying a 'cougar'. But to me (apart from Demi Moore or Halimo Goobaad) the cougar thing seems too much like a novelty.
From a sociological point of view it makes sense (age gaps). Younger women go for older men because they have life experience and are probably already established in their careers so they are seen as good providers. Older women go for younger men because they reach their sexual peak later in life and need the vitality of younger men to satisfy themselves.
What do all of you think about dramatic differences in age when it comes to romantic/marriage relationships? Do you find it morally iffy/gross, or are you all good with it?
