at around 5am while the soldiers were at fast sleep the attack began. It was the same favorite tactics that El-shishkabab have mastered over the Kenyan soldiers in JL. They came with more soldiers then the ones in the base. The fighting was opened with a car packed with balaayo qaraxda to disorient the soldiers in the base. Before any soldier had the chance to jump off the bed and grab his gun the rebels were already inside the camp. This created panic were many of the soldiers tried to run and were machine gunned by a stationary technical pickup.

The eventual casualty is 168 with many weaponry lost to the enemy.
