How can one study or even many studies "proof" there is or isn't one?
The whole 71 cent on the dollar thing is not a gender wage gap. Like the conservative argument says - there many factors that could be.
There are about 150 million people in the U.S work force - that is too many people to do studies on.
Also, if you check the labor department stats, many women are in low paying industries compared to men.
Even if women and men are in the same industries and there is a gap, it's always can't be sexism. If I was boss, I would give the person that stayed at work longer and work weekends the bigger raise than someone who chooses to work only 40hrs a week, that goes for any who takes time off (ie maternity leave, sick).
Also, if someone has more experience or impresses the hiring manager, they will more likely get higher salary than someone who doesn't.
Are there bosses who pay women less? Of course they exist.
But, some insane feminists are pushing for the idea of having the employer publish everyone's salary - which is insane and invading people's privacy.
Women also take maternity leave and take years off after maternity leave to take care of their children before deciding to get back into the workplace. That takes years off their work experience. Also, they make even work part time if they decide to work again.
White men make 80 cents on the dollar of what Asian men make.
