As you most of you’re are aware of I’m a staunch secularist and ofcoz a nationalist, my observations and engagements with Somalis (mostly successful ones) for the last 10 or so years since my uni days have made me realized that the more secular a Somali person is the more successful they are in life.

Somalis don't have a culture nor history that is independent of Islam. So being Muslim is like a culture to them which is an oxymoron. Because culture is something outside the sphere of religion.
