Were they in Libya? Sudan? Somalia? Im hearing they weren't even Somali but rather Sudanese. Can anyone help me out?
This didn't answer my question. It's a greek mythology by Herodotus , there is no proof of any people called Macrobian existing because they are not collaborated by any other sources. The name ''Macrobian'' features in a lot of greek myths as well.
Even in the odd chance that they did exist, we don't have enough information to know who and where they were.
But we do have information on Somalia on the other hand which was a decentralized trading emporium with ports and settlements on the coast from 1st century BCE . This is confirmed by written records and archeology.

** Persian invaders in Egypt not RomansThe story of a man sending a unstrung bow & arrow to Romans in Egypt could be Sudan is what some folk argue,
But the descriptions of both people and location can be attributed to Somalia.
