It was a great uptaking that ended in tragedy. If we had won that war the course of Somali history could be vastly different. The worst mistake Somalia ever made and why we are refugee scattered around the globe, from Tokyo to Guatemala.
You're misinformed first of all WSLF had liberated 70% Somali Galbeed when Barre sent it the armed forces. It was a great uptaking that ended in tragedy. If we had won that war the course of Somali history could be vastly different.
The first point I know, where is the evidence to the second. I'm not talking about your reasons, when did USSR say that he needed to make a referendum? As for the people who was thirsting for his seat, his suspicions were correct not long after a group of officers attempted to stage a coup and failed. You're misinformed first of all WSLF had liberated 70% Somali Galbeed when Barre sent it the armed forces.
Second of all, the Somali armed forced liberated the entire somali Galbeed + Harar.
it was over and the USSR advised Barre to stay put and make a referendum for the people of somali gabled to join Somalia, to which he said no and made it clear that his plan was to attack Addis Ababa.
And he did this for 2 reasons
1. why would he bring millions of extra cagdheer when he was killing and displacing their kin in waamo.
2. in the war to come he wanted the men thirsting for his seat or those he suspected, to die in the war but somehow all of his enemies survived. only the ones fighting for their country and their people died. Allaha Ya Raxma
Viva SSDF!The first point I know, where is the evidence to the second. I'm not talking about your reasons, when did USSR say that he needed to make a referendum? tbh I don't even mind the fact they rebelled in fact if they had after 1985 I would prob supported them. By then people like Mamo Khadija and shit started to take over and created a clannish regime and used red berets to put Barre in the back seat. What I don't like about all the rebellions is that no one except early SSDF had a plan to create government after Siyaad.
i acquired this information from elders who were part of the Kacaan government, but if thorough web search is done i believe documents proving this event could be found. The first point I know, where is the evidence to the second. Still lost though, life would be so much different for all of us if we won.The equivalent of 1940 for the French. A country of 3 million inhabitants giving a beating to a country of 30 million. What a pleasure. See the ogaden be taken over in a few months. The Somali army at the door of Addis Ababa
It would have been amazing, if Siad barre had accepted USSR proposal and stopped pushing forward to Addis. Somali Galbeed would have been added to Somalia and Kenya was already shaking and ready to call it even and hand over NFD.
If this happened all the events that led to the civil war would have been avoided.
Instead Siad barre went against all advise to take this deal which led for others to question his leadership.
Anyone got a Time Machine laying around?
if you knew the dirty anti islamic culture that was practiced by the Elites of the Kacaan, you wouldn't use such words to describe it. Alxamdullilah it collapsed before it made us all into Ehlul Naar. You mean Dowlad Barakaysan.![]()
Unfortunately it was all for nothing. 14 years later, Ethiopia got the last laugh thanks to afweyneThe equivalent of 1940 for the French. Even when the Somali forces were defeated, he ordered the killing of the best commanders and officers, because he was afraid that they would stage a coup against him when they returned. He also left entire battalions of the army behind, and they were all killed. You're misinformed first of all WSLF had liberated 70% Somali Galbeed when Barre sent it the armed forces.
