The evolution of language

Garaannabad

Hawshu waa hal abur Qoofeed. Maha daba daaq sidi..
I would love to hear how the ancient Somali sounded.
I could sense some Somali sounds in the ancient Egyptian language.
The Sabaic sounds like someone who'd just begun to learn Carabic.

Just listen to Af maay its literally old somali
Nah its really not. Afmaay has perseverance certain sounds that shifted in maxa tiri. But im pretty sure its phonology has underwent way more change than maxa tiri. Since the language of settled people generally undergoes more change than nomadic people

Imo Af maxa is just maay with waaay more arabic loan words

Also the maxa clans have maay names, knowing how many arabs lived in the north this transformation and birth of a northern arabic influenced dialect is very normal and possible
