I used to think like you and ask such questions. The more I read about her and her constituents, the more I realised that she represents young white idealistic liberals (many university students) in her ward/electorate who want to hear their representative making those kinds of noises. Soon, if she openly supports Maduro of Venezuela and criticises the U.S government, I wouldn’t be surprised.

America is a superpower and they’ve to do what they’ve got to do. Sometimes, the Left makes so many mistakes and the people get so much frustrated and replace them with an evil far worse than them. Look at Brazil. In Venezuela, the military will decide which side to support and consider as the legitimate government. If they decide to support Washington’s team, they will let them control the game, if not, they will support Maduro.

America sanctioned a military coup and the mistake the officers behind the coup made was to arrest the late President Chavez and not assassinate him. There was a counter coup and the officers arrested and Chavez resumed power. The military is aligned with the politics of the Left and see the Right wingers as their mortal enemies. Having said that, human preservation (jobs and freedom) makes humans reevaluate their self-interests. In politics, there are no permanent enemies or friends, only permanent interests.

Venezuela has oil, and was against America, this will change soon and our oil refining companies will be there in a few months is all I know
