Their is a-lot of mis-information circulating about Puntland and Somaliland, maybe it's a generational issue especially with the young ones. But with older people, they clearly make a distinction between the TWO states and their goals. Puntland founding principle is in it's 1998 charter and subsequent constitution and has been repeated like Gospel to all and it's not changing anytime soon either as long as the old generation puntites are around. Their goal is to help themselves but also help Somalia in a POSITIVE way.
They believe PL is about it's own interest while being an example for all Somalia. Somaliland is a far different founding principle which they repeat constantly like rectifying the 1960 union power sharing mistakes and SNM conflict with Somalia government through SECESSION. Their politics is purely about 'Isaaq' interest and that's it.
In-fact some argue their is plenty of evidence they also playing a NEGATIVE yes NEGATIVE role in Somalia such as shabab, as they believe thru Somalia non-existence they will be recognized. This region believes in the harm or non-existence of other Somalis, their Somaliland isn't a benefit for Somalia at all. Some people argue why does Puntland resort to secessionist tendencies, the only time they do is when PL founding vision of it's own 'autonomy' while also being an 'example' for Somalia is some-what interfered with or trangressed on by the federal government.
Their not pursuing a secession for itself and then seeking harm/destruction of others in Somalia at the same time to achieve such end-goals. Puntland ultimate goal is to help itself so it can help all Somalia, it's a whole idea is centered around positivity for all. A true landheer as far as im concerned stand on his own and helps himself and then plays a positive role for all Somalia.
A landheer doesn't stand on his own out of spite 4 others or their destruction and pursue such end-goals(that's wats a insecure langaab does). Don't argue PL hasn't played a positive role in Somalia and act blind or stupid. It resurrected the federal govt in Mogadishu with it's ppl lives-money and yes TIME, we lost a good god damn 5 years there(2004-2009) and also ended the transition and drafted the constitution. I also don't see them since 91 making any pre-emptive strikes on any irir clan either but always on the defence.
