The dangerous play of oromosation and anti Somali sentiments

We all heard of Dir conference held in Addis Ababa capital of Ethiopia.

It was not a innocent meeting of Dir people but something more sinister!

For a long time writers and intellectuals tried to construct the argument as a native vs non native.

It happened in the civil war when all clans combined on a single 'invader' clan.

Many have criticised the war against Ethiopia a war not for Somalinimo but a war to unite the invader clan.

We have many folks who display that sentiment often hardcore Somalilanders and Central/Southern Somalis but all other clana that view the D-Block as an invading clan and not native to Africa but who is powerful and marginalises all other clans.

They see that Somalinimo as a social construct of the D-Block.

1991 was the year of the natives when Oromo's celebrated the butchering of that clan that us keeping Somalia together under Somalinimo.

Oromo's played a leading intellectual role in constructing that idea.

That failed to eradicate the 'invaders' the same with Somaliland's secession which they supported too.

Now they have increased the stake by coming out of the woodwork.

I recently witnessed family members calling Oromo's uncles which was weird.

These clans aligning themselves to Oromo are running away from what they perceive as D-Block hegemony and subjugation.

This of course was the rhetoric in 1991.

We see this as continuation of that. Their goals are to rid the D-Block from the entire Horn of Africa.

embarrassing it is Oromo intellectual who sold the idea and supported the break up of Somalia and ouster of D-Block 'hegemony'.

They managed to destroy a Somali nation state now they are coming for 'Somali' name or construct.

Oromo have no problem with central clam of Somaliland nor the central clan in Mogadishu.

They have a problem with the D-Block and want to isolate them.

How does the isolating work?

It is simple ' Somalinimo' is ethnicity based but here comes the problem if said D-Block is not related to the natives then why continue under 'fraudulent' umbrella when they can switch to the Oromo leaving the D-Block bare and open to attack.

This they believe will empower them and free them from D-Block hegemony.

The only clan that will never become Oromo is the D-Block.

Now those pushing the Oromo identity argue why share identity with such people when we can share identity with people who are natives and probably closer to them.

What they of course forgetting are that the Oromo have set sight on their lost land and in deconstructing the Somali identity Dir clans can push into D-Block and Oromo move behind.

Dir hope they will get more land by doing that and drive invaders out but they are playing a dangerous game and shooting themselves in the leg.

Their logic is why be frontier for D-Block when they don't get anything out.

It is well known that the D-Block is the last barrier and flag bearer of Somalinimo. The argument has been misconstrued labelling them invaders and a Oromosation will be an eviction order for them.

The Oromo have their sight on the vast oceans and expansion into Somali hinterland.

While Dir just pursuing a D-Block witch hunt.

Oromo's hate Somalinimo. They have a historical vendetta and belief that they have been driven out of their rightful homes by Somali clans.

The only way they can return and rectify that historical humiliation is by destroying the 'Somali' construct itself.

Their argument is how can Dir natives align themselves with D-Block as they are not even native to the region.

They are saying that Dir were originally from the Oromo before they took the Somali name with invaders who they allied with through marriage but not blood.

The vast majority of Oromos have no idea who Darood, Isaaq Dir etc are. They know you as Sumaale and that’s it.

The ones who know the clans either neighbor Somalis or lived in Somalia in the past.

Ask someone from central Oromia who the Darood are and they’ll look at you with a blank stare.

As for anything in 1991, Oromos had no power to cause any rift in the region, so why claim we did? You caused it yourself.

I’m not one to point and claim rubbish, this is fact. You caused your own downfall.

Hate Oromos all you like, that doesn’t chnage the actual fact.

And regarding this Dir conference, what proof do you have that Oromos organized it and how do you know if we have an alliance with “Dir”?

Ahmed Shide is one you can point fingers ar, but to put all the claim on ethnic Oromos is ridiculous and childish.

You can keep blaming people but does that fix your situation or cause more hatred and issues that are not even on the table?

You're right about the Oromo/Ethiopians and their agenda. But the rest of your commentary is silly, qabil bias, and just indirectly promoting their same agenda.

@AfranQallo its not the regular oromo people that is the problem its their leadership and the extremists that support them.

Afran Oromo's supported the Somali nation state downfall and celebrated SNM and USC for no reason.

Their hate of the D-Block was evident.

They identified with them as they saw natives taking power back from 'invaders'.

There are numerous books by Oromo's living in Somalia who promoted that idea and resonated with majority of Oromo who also believe they are being subdued by foreigners.

embarrassing I am telling the truth.

Oromo's taught those assembled under the Dir umbrella they should switch to Oromo as they have no ancestry with the D-Block that way they could isolate and make them bare.

Those who hate Somali nation state and particular D-Block rushed to attend it as they see it as a chance to bring down 'D-Block hegemony' who they say operate and benefit from the Somali name but who they haven't got any common ancestry with.

It’s misleading. Oromos have never lead the country, and most of our respective leaders have no issue with Somalis or Somalia.

The problem is the leadership of the idiotic ODP leaders and their Abbissiniyan ideology. They can be blamed as a party but bare in mind the OPDO only rose to power last year.

At the end of the day, those who were threatened by Somalis and wanted a weak Somali state are those who have ruled Ethiopia in the past, mainly habeshas.

OLF hardcore Oromo's were in bed with USC and Aydid!

Now they want to deny it. The Somali construct is held together by D-Block without it we see what is happening, Oromo expansion.

Dir are noble people but some are being duped and sold lies they are the D-Blocks in-laws and we share the Somali identity through that.

Oromo's want to break that with the help of ignoble hate filled Dirs to reach their agenda of returning to the lands that they were once evicted from.

The only gate to deconstruct the Somali identity is through Dir.

As the in-laws change identity and becomes Oromo it lays bare the D-Block.

This is the second wave after 1991 when through Irir Samaale the purge of the invaders was conducted.

Oromo's hate Somalinimo as construct and want to see the construct shattered.

It thrives on invader vs natives Oromo Intellectuals have written about to free themselves from their own enslavement.

Some in the Hawiye and Isaaq (Dir) bought that argument.

We know because Irir Samaale and now Dir Oromo was construed in the same manner and geared towards the D-Block.

Lol, what lands were Oromos evicted from? The scorching hot deserts of Gaalkacyo?

Have you seen their lands?

Apart from the Abiy River and the Blue Nile, all rivers and lakes in Ethiopia(and Somalia) originate in the lands of Oromia.
