Nah. The xawalaad market is oversaturated. In Puntland they use Amaal Express (MJ) and Tawakal (Leelkase). In central Somalia
to Mogadishu they mostly use Hodan Global and others.

The reason for that is in the early 2000s the biggest company was Al Barakat but USA wrongly
put it in the terror list. So Dahabshiil took advantage of that void and catered to the southern
customers (who make up a large part of the Somali diaspora) now they have several companies
though as a result Dahabshiil is sharing customers with many other companies. For example
Dahabshiil is no longer the no.1 company in south Somalia.

Dahabshiil is still the biggest Xawaalad. But they have diversified their business. They gone into hospitality sector as well building malls and will soon invest in Berbera cement factory

The reason it diversified is because there is too much competition in the money remittance market.
It is not like back in the mid 2000s .

of Somalis use to Dahabshiil. Now he is lucky if 20% use it.

Remittances via traditional xawaalad is becoming outdated. People are now using Zaad/Taaj as well as various other e-xawaalad.

The business itself has stagnated.
