This is the genocide that was done to the Digil and Mirifle people and was carried out by the SNF millitias which was comprised by Marehan clan. In this man made famine/genocide over 500,000 Digil and mirifle people starved to death and the city of Baidoa gained the title "city of death".

Marehan waa innocent

This genocide marked the disastrous peak of systematic disadvantage and destruction inflicted upon the Raxanweyn people during Siad Barre's reign. Their agricultural productive land was systematically stolen and re-administered by his kinsmen.

Disadvantaging the Raxanweyns had been state policy for decades before the civil war.

Hit the nail on the head.

The kacaan period was a period where the Digil and mirifle people were basically second class citizens. They were denied their language as well having land taken from them.

That was before the civil war. During the civil war, state policy persisted through tribal violence carried out by loyalists. For a proper reconstruction of what happened, amends and apologies need to be made to the Raxanweyn. Ignoring this has already fueled the secessionist project up north. The day the Raxanweyn decide to divorce from Somalia, preferring not to play a third-rank role, will be the day the Somali dream, or its remnants, fully perishes. While I truely believe in 1m1v, if that is not feasible next election, than atleast the Hawiye-Darod power sharing of the presidency and prime minister post needs to be broken.

I 100% agree. There needs to be a stop put to this power sharing system where only hawiye and Daarood share presidency.

the civil war was brutal. d&m invaded mx territory alongside usc so mx had little sympathy.
Which Mx territory did D&M invade.

Please don't say Baardheere which is majority D&M, this is undebatable and it's well known Baardheere was established by the Baardheere Jamaacah which was majority D&M.

AUN to the innocent but it wasn’t unprovoked , konfuur sided with USC originally. They boiled darood civilians who were fleeing to JL , put needles into peoples heads etc . Actions have consequences

Now a man with mx abti has been installed with force by the FGS to ”lead” Koofur Orsi kkkk. We do not know who exactly made the decision to stop Roobow from being elected but it sure harmed reer kgs.

This is just recent, most blatant disrespect to reer Rx. If a genocide, political marginalisation and continuos demeaning roasting by other somalis hasn’t woken them up, its over for them. We will see in few years.

Anyone who argues that the Raxanweyn deserved their suffering can only be described as monstrous. Their marginalization began long before the civil war, with government policies aimed at depopulating and repopulating their areas. Some Raxanweyn did join the USC, but only after mass killings and land seizures were well underway. That can only be described as choosing the lesser of two evils. When organizations like the SPM boasted about taking land, they did not frame it as retribution for crimes committed by any Raxanweyn militia.

While the USC mistreated the Raxanweyn, the sources point to the orchestration of nearly half a million deaths by Siad Barre and later his kinsmen, with the aim of appropriating their land.

The loss of half a million lives is a tragic reality, and it is disheartening to see half-hearted arguments suggesting they deserved it for actions that occurred after the government betrayed and began mass killings.

It is crucial to question the lax response to this tragedy and then witness feigned outrage when comparing it to the smaller-scale mass killings of Daroods by the USC. Would one accept the argument that the Hawiye should lack sympathy due to group guilt associated with crimes committed by Barre against them and other Somalis?
